I thought Neil Patrick Harris did a pretty good job last night. I think my favorite sketch was the Broadway one where he revived his role as Mark in Rent.
But the main thing that left me scratching my head is Taylor Swift who was the musical guest. Admittedly, I'm not familiar with her music but I am aware that she is a pretty big thing even outside the country music world. So I had some decent expectations of her and after her two performances, my thought was "Huh?" I mean, she's totally adorable but her vocal skills are pretty weak and I didn't think either of her songs were that memorable either.
But that's just me - maybe I need to hear them more. Although to be honest, I don't think I will be using any of my iTunes credits for her music anytime soon.

SNL spoof on Beyonce's Single Ladies video
Catching up on last night's SNL... Paul Rudd hosted with Beyonce as the musical guest.
Justin Timberlake stopped by... he did a bit during Weekend Update which was kind of funny, kind of gratuitous. By far, my favorite sketch is the one that combined the talents of JT, Paul Rudd, and Beyonce... so hilarious!
(Hopefully this one doesn't get deleted!)
Update: Make sure to check out Paul Rudd's moves in the last 25 seconds of the clip. I missed it the first few times I saw this - and it was worth watching over and over again.
I actually love this song and the original video (below). I just wish it was available as a single on iTunes. (Update: I just got it! It became available with the release of Beyonce's new album - yay!)

Sarah Palin on Satuday Night Live
I've been DVR-ing Saturday Night Live lately and last night's episode was a huge winner. Hopefully, you've all seen the Sarah Palin clips - they were hilarious. I'm glad that we still got to see Tina Fey do her thing because she is hysterical.
Clip 1 highlights include cameos with Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin.
Clip 2 highlights - where to begin? Amy Poehler's rap was hilarious. And I busted out laughing when they brought the moose out. I know it's cruel, but c'mon, that was funny!
Sarah Palin is a good sport for sure.
I also loved the separate bit they did with Mark Wahlberg and Andy Samberg. I love how they can make great bits out of things happening right now.
The musical guest was Adele and she was amazing! I was glad to see her because I had caught her video on MTV once and I instantly loved her song. Here it is in case you don't know her. I just added it to my iTunes.
And next week's host is Jon Hamm - yay, hopefully more people will turn into his show, Mad Men.

It's like they read my mind!!!
So thanks to my mom, I've been DVR-ing the Suze Orman show. I caught up on one today and I was thinking, you know, this would be a perfect person to impersonate on SNL. And I'm sitting here watching SNL right now (yes, I'll admit to watching SNL on a Saturday night) and guess what has just popped up??? A Suze Orman sketch!
OK, it just finished. Kristen Wiig did a decent job but I was hoping to see her bust out with a "DENIED! DENIED! You are SOOOOOOOO DENIED!!!" No such luck.
I love seeing how the SNL writers watch the same weird stuff I watch. Amy Poehler's interpretation of Christian "Hot Tranny Mess" Siriano was hilarious.
Maybe there will be a Jon & Kate plus Eight sketch next... :P

Another funny SNL clip
While I was home for the holidays, I happened to catch an old SNL episode on E!. Coincidentally, it was the Lindsay Lohan episode that had the Debbie Downer sketch that I had previously mentioned.
Well, there's another moment from this episode that made me laugh out loud. During Lohan's opening monologue, Rachel Dratch impersonated Hilary Duff, Amy Poehler impersonated Avril Lavigne, and Maya Rudolph impersonated Whitney Houston. While all the women were hilarious, Amy's interpretation of Avril was over the top hysterical!!! She appears about 2 minutes into the clip.

SNL Flashback: Debbie Downer
This post is dedicated to my friend Jen who didn't understand my Debbie Downer reference. This sketch is particularly funny because it's the one with Lindsay Lohan where the actors struggled with keeping straight faces.

SNL: Shia LaBeouf and Avril Lavigne
I forgot to mention that I actually got to watch Saturday Night Live this past weekend. The host was Shia LaBeouf (cutie from Disney Channel's Even Stevens, now starring in the new movie, Disturbia). Shia did a great job although there weren't really any stand-out sketches or anything.
As for Avril Lavigne, she was the worst SNL musical performer I've ever seen! (And I've seen the SNL episodes with Britney, Ashlee Simpson, etc.) I can't believe she's sold millions of albums and has been out on tour and stuff because she had absolutely no stage presence. She was just so blah and awkward for such a peppy song like "Girlfriend". Her back up singers were way more entertaining than she was.

Peyton Manning rocks SNL
So it looks like Peyton Manning got some good reviews from his SNL stint this past weekend. Some of the highlights were his opening monologue where he makes fun of his mom for not being in the NFL like himself, his dad, and his bro and the United Way clip where he has some questionable mentoring styles.
However, I think this clip of him dancing is my favorite:
